The Dornier 335 was an experimental heavy fighterbomber that first flew in 1944. Several variants were planned, from the regular A-1 fighterbomber (seen here) armed with two 20mm MG151s in the cowling and a 30mm MK 103 cannon firing through the nose cone, to the heavy fighter B-2 with two extra 30mm cannons protruding from the wingroots.
The aircraft never went beyond prototype stage, with several machines being found by the Western Allies at Dornier's factory in Oberpfaffehofen, Bavaria, Germany, when the war ended.
This is the Tamiya kit, the newest reboxing with the Kübelwagen. I decided to paint is as a what if machine with JG 1's markings (red fuselage band). Decals came from Eaglr Cals for the individual aircraft markings, and crosses are from the kit.
